Applause, launched in 2013, is an app quality measurement tool developed by uTest labs, a Seattle- and Boston-based quality assurance consultancy and software development firm.
Applause crawls public app store reviews and ratings and distills the disparate data points contained within them into an “Applause Score”, based on 10 attributes. The Applause Score is meant to serve as a quantitative proxy metric for user satisfaction, derived from ratings and reviews. The Applause product allows users to track the Applause Score for an app over time and over versions, build portfolios of apps for the purposes of comparison, and browse an app’s “review stream” — or list of app store reviews — in real time. Applause is free to use.
